Arizona: Supreme Court Rules That Concentrates Are Legal Under State’s Medical Cannabis Access Law

Manufacturing and possessing concentrated forms of cannabis are legally protected activities under the state’s medical cannabis access law, according to a unanimous decision issued today by the Arizona Supreme Court. The decision reverses a 2018 ruling by the Arizona Court of Appeals.

Senate Bill 406 expands medical cannabis access and provides important new patient protections. House Bill 581 regulates the commercial production of industrial hemp and hemp-extract products in a manner that comports with provisions in the 2018 federal Farm Act. Once signed into law, the reduced penalties take effect on July 1, 2019.

Minnesota: Regulators Okay Patients’ Access to Cannabis-Infused Edible Products

Under the plan, patients in the state’s medical access program will be able to purchase marijuana-infused gummies or other similar chewable products beginning on August 1, 2022. Currently, qualified patients are only permitted to obtain cannabis products in the form of pills, extracts, tinctures, lozenges, or powdered mixtures.

Iowa: Lawmakers Approve Medical Cannabis Expansion Legislation

House and Senate lawmakers have approved legislation, House File 732 , to expand the state’s medical cannabis access program. Under existing law , licensed dispensaries may only dispense plant-derived extracts possessing CBD and no more than three percent THC. The measure now awaits action from Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds.
