On November 5, 2016, Maine’s voters legalized recreational, or adult-use, marijuana. During her terms, she introduced two marijuana legalization bills, first in 2011 and again in 2013. By the end of 2016, and after a lot of heated political infighting, Maine’s voters approved the bill by a hair, at just 50.3

Senator Jeremy Cooney of New York introduced a bill on July 20 that would build upon the state’s recreational cannabis law with a focus on getting cultivation up and running. A key committee in New Hampshire’s House of Representatives has given approval to legislation that would legalize marijuana for those 21 and older. House Bill 481 was passed last week by the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee in a 10 to 9 vote. Marijuana would be taxed at $30 per ounce for dried bud.
