Washington Bans Hemp-CBD in Food

The latest “drop” comes in the form of an August 1 memo from the Washington State Department of Agriculture (“WSDA”) titled Restrictions on the use of hemp CBD as a food ingredient. According to the WSDA, Hemp-CBD is not approved as a food ingredient. Last year, the FDA approved the drug Epidiolex.

German courts confirm sales bans on CBD containing food

According to the latest version of the EU Novel Food Catalogue, EU regulators consider that CBD-containing foods and dietary supplements are classified as novel foods. As a result, CBD-containing foods require an authorisation to be legally placed on the EU market according to Article 6 (2) of the Novel Foods Regulation.
