Going under the knife is never a fun thing to be doing. Whether serious or minor, surgery recovery can be painful and long. Doctors will often prescribe opioid painkillers to treat pain after the procedure, but the drugs that they prescribe can be addictive and come with many side effects. Because of that, many people want a different pain reliever.

When NORML was founded in 1970, roughly 12% of Americans supported legalizing marijuana. After decades of hard work by thousands of committed activists around the country, we are gradually winning the hearts and minds of a majority of the public today. Currently sixty-five percent of adults nationwide support ending marijuana prohibition and establishing a regulated market where responsible consumers can legally purchase marijuana.

The U.S. cannabis industry is still in its infancy, even though states began engaging with legalization in one form or another in the late 1990s. Today, many opportunities exist for individuals and businesses that want to engage in the industry. Some want to directly own licensed businesses, while others prefer to keep the industry at an arm’s length and merely profit from it.

New Mexico’s governor has officially become a party in a legal battle over whether medical cannabis cards should be issued to out-of-state residents. On Wednesday, a state district judge approved Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s request to intervene in the case, which arose after a prominent medical cannabis producer challenged the state on wording in a state statute related to who can become a medical cannabis patient in New Mexico.

Dear Cheri, I want to use cannabis but am regularly drug tested for work, so I know that THC is out. My question is, does CBD show up in UA (urinary analysis)? Will CBD show up on a drug test? Does CBD show up in UA? Not unless CBD is specifically requested to be tested for, which would be highly unusual. In fact you won’t even find any federal guidelines for testing CBD, despite its still murky legal status.

State governments and the federal Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) take wildly different approaches when it comes to Hemp-derived cannabidiol (“Hemp CBD”), and for the most part, the ball is still in the government’s court to actually regulate hemp and Hemp CBD. The Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) haven’t issued regulations yet, states like California are still considering laws that would allow (or ban) many Hemp CBD products, and the intersta

Today let’s talk about Curaleaf and the trifecta of very bad things that befell the company over a recent two-week span. Then, let’s see what we can learn from this brutal sequence. To recap, between July 22 and August 5: 1) Curaleaf was hit with an FDA warning letter for “illegally selling” CBD products and making “unsubstantiated claims” that the products treat cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, opioid withdrawal, pain and pet anxiety; 2) was hit with a class action securities lawsuit by a sharp-loo

There has been a lot of buzz lately about marijuana reform in South and Central America. Although Uruguay will always hold the title for being the first country in the world to legalize recreational marijuana, the Green Wave is hitting the continent in one large swoop. Canadian companies have already seen this opportunity, as South American partners and subsidiaries strike deals for the production and global export of (for now) non-intoxicating CBD.

CBD is “thriving” in the current regulatory environment, but is it doing so illegally? As former U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Scott Gottlieb opined last week , “the CBD craze is getting out of hand. The FDA needs to act.” Since the passage of the Farm Bill in December of 2018 , there has been a marked uptick in interest in the cannabidiol (CBD) space from businesses and users alike.

CBD products are taking the world by storm. Gummy type products and creams have been around for a whole – but so strong has been the growth of the industry (and customer demand) that many companies are now thinking out of the gummy bear and ointment/tincture boxes. CBD is non-psychoactive and is now making it into a wider variety of products such as those in the beauty arena and even making it into some fast food offerings like the ubiquitous cheeseburger.
