Prime Minister Mark Brown says the overwhelming favourable response to the cannabis referendum will allow the Government to move quickly in legalising medicinal cannabis and opening up further research.

It is finally here: New York’s Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) announced that it will begin accepting applications for the Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) Licenses on August 25, 2022. Applications will be accepted through the OCM’s online portal and the application window will close on September 26, 2022. This is obviously a huge deal and the first step towards legal sales of adult-use cannabis in New York.

We’ve mentioned how many committees this proposed bill has been through in a prior report. The LA Times doesn’t mix words. Legislation to decriminalize certain psychedelic drugs such as “magic mushrooms,” MDMA, ketamine and LSD was gutted by the California Legislature on Thursday, though the lawmaker who sponsored the bill vowed to reintroduce the measure next year.

A California company specializing in hemp-derived delta-8 THC products has notched a fourth straight victory in copyright battles with competitors that it claimed were illegally using its protected brand. According to Law360, AK Futures – which sells the popular “Cake”-branded delta-8 THC vaporizers – won its latest court fight when a federal judge again ruled that hemp-based products are protected under federal copyright laws because hemp was legalized in 2018.

This week alone we have Curaleaf and their labelling and also this great report from Weedweek about Stiizy … Looks like the NY Office of Cannabis is going to have to be extra extra vigilant. The labels of four Stiiizy -branded vape products purchased in New York City suggest that there is an illegal pipeline of products originating at the company’s licensed Los Angeles factory and reaching out of state markets.

L.A. County commercial cannabis is finally coming in 2023. We covered the breaking news about L.A. County commercial cannabis regulations here. This is a huge deal, because L.A. County is the biggest county in the U.S. with over 9 million residents. L.A. Lawmakers in Guyana’s parliament voted this week to legalize industrial hemp plants containing 0.3% THC or less. Ganjapreneur. The Guyana parliament on Monday approved the Industrial Hemp Bill, legalizing industrial hemp cultivation of plants containing 0.3% THC or less, Caribbean National Weekly reports. Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha, who is described as piloting the legislation, called hemp “a win-win situation for all the players involved.” .
