The FDA and CDC each issued warning notices to the public regarding delta-8 THC products on September 14, 2021, many of which are marketed as hemp products (and include some non-obvious references to other novel cannabinoids that may have similar effects and marketing). Delta-8 THC has psychoactive and intoxicating effects.

As federal and state governments tackle the legalization of hemp as a distinct product from cannabis, the safety of the products produced from hemp isn’t getting the same attention as those produced from THC-based cannabis. We got 51 hemp-derived Delta-8 THC products tested by an independent lab, and found high levels of Delta-9 THC in most of them. Customers looking for a “weed light” experience could be getting something decidedly heavy , with delta-9 THC levels well beyond the legal limit and very little in the way of testing for impurities.

We believe there is a benefit to Delta-8 but there should be labeling or warnings on packages so that consumers are informed of potential minor intoxication effects. It’s no surprise to InfiniteCAL that Delta 8-THC is becoming more regulated every day, and we believe that it should be regulated nationwide.
