On February 21, the Natural Product Association (NPA) filed a citizen petition with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on specific cannabidiol (CBD) relief in which it requests enforcement discretion for the premarket approval of CBD products. Issue notice-and-comment rulemaking to establish that CBD is lawful under the FDCA.

As we reported here , the CBD craze is sweeping the nation. 115-334, (Farm Bill) removed hemp from the definition of marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act. Under the Farm Bill, hemp-derived products containing a concentration of up to 0.3% Indeed, by 2022, it is expected to be a $22 billion per year industry.

The Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 ( 2018 Farm Bill ) legalized hemp by removing the crop and its derivatives from the definition of marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) and by providing a detailed framework for the cultivation of hemp. The state’s hemp plan was approved by the USDA in January 2020.
