Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee today announced his intent to provide an expedited process in order to grant pardons to those with past criminal misdemeanor marijuana-related convictions on their record. It is estimated that some 3,500 individuals will have their criminal records vacated as a result of these actions. “The Governor is to be commended for taking this proactive stance,” NORML Deputy Director Paul Armentano said.
Just fewer than two years since insisting it was a “gateway drug,” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is singing a different tune regarding the legalization of cannabis for recreational use in The Empire State. “It’s a gateway drug, and marijuana leads to other drugs and there’s a lot of proof that that’s true,” Governor Cuomo said in February of 2017. “There’s two sides to the argument.

The U.S. cannabis industry is still in its infancy, even though states began engaging with legalization in one form or another in the late 1990s. Today, many opportunities exist for individuals and businesses that want to engage in the industry. Some want to directly own licensed businesses, while others prefer to keep the industry at an arm’s length and merely profit from it.

January. January 2018 was a hemp-based month, featuring the launch of our CBD oil capsules and the inauguration of the Hemp Design Villa in Oude Pekela. Twelve months on, the CBD oil capsules are proving to be one of our most popular products. Made from hemp grown by our sister company HempFlax, they contain full plant extract rather than just CBD crystals, so the Entourage Effect can be enjoyed by people looking to improve their health and well-being.
SALEM, Ore — For the second year in a row, Oregon cannabis farmers have harvested more than a million pounds of usable marijuana. The huge harvest (more than 453,592 kilograms) is again driving down prices for consumers and putting pressure on growers who aren’t getting the price they hoped for after a similar phenomenon in 2017, The Bulletin reported Thursday.
Happy New Year and welcome to the first Weekly Legislative Roundup of 2019! The new Congress was just sworn in yesterday, and they are not wasting any time. U.S. Reps. Hello All! I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Dan Korpon, and I am the Chief Technology Officer for PAH. It’s been an exciting transition ending 2018, and I’m looking forward to what 2019 has to offer.
Context of the Medicinal Cannabis Situation. Since 2001, Canadians seeking to use cannabis for medical treatment have had access to it under the Marihuana Medical Access Regulations (MMAR ). They enabled “individuals with the authorization of a health-care practitioner to access dried marijuana for medical purposes by producing their own marijuana plants, designating someone to produce for them or purchasing Health Canada supply”.
PORTLAND — The past year was a 12-month champagne toast for the legal marijuana industry as the global market exploded and cannabis pushed its way further into the financial and cultural mainstream. Liberal California became the largest legal U.S. marketplace, conservative Utah and Oklahoma embraced medical marijuana, and the U.S. East Coast got its first commercial pot shops.
As Illinois lawmakers continue to consider input from various stakeholders for legislation that would legalize the possession and use of marijuana for adults 21 and up in 2019, some advocates are feeling left out of the process. This is especially concerning because the majority reside in communities that have been devastated by marijuana prohibition.
With the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill (also called the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018), hemp or cannabis sativa has essentially become legal on the federal level, but there are still significant rules and regulations associated with hemp cultivation, processing, and distribution. When it comes to CBD derived from the hemp plant, the rules are a bit difficult to understand, so in this post we will help demystify the farm bill and give an overview of what it means for hemp and its derivativ
It’s no secret: smoking cigarettes is now considered a nasty habit that most people would prefer to break, if it just weren’t so darned addicting. Telling someone who is addicted to cigarettes to just quit is not as simple as it sounds – an addiction is a habit in both the body and that brain that must be conquered. However, there are now alternatives to smoking cigarettes that can help you overcome the craving in both your mind and body that will ultimately let you kick that nasty habit o
No matter what country you grew up in the Western World, the global war on drugs will have most likely made its way into your classroom or in the news and you will have heard cannabis talked about in a negative light and quite often mentioned in the same vain as much harder drugs. Now we are seeing the same countries legalizing medical marijuana and even some for recreational use, such as Canada on October 17th, 2018.
With a new year on the horizon, members of Nevada and Las Vegas NORML wanted to take time to shine light on 18 of our most memorable moments from 2018. (It was hard to choose just 18!). January 2018: Protested Jeff Sessions. We certainly didn’t expect the opportunity to protest Jeff Sessions alongside Congresswoman Dina Titus and State Senators Aaron Ford & Tick Segerblom at the Apothecary Shoppe Dispensary with every news outlet present, but it happened!
You’ve probably heard the phrase “different strokes for different folks.” It means everyone is individual and unique. This is certainly the case when it comes to medical cannabis.
One of the biggest advantages to legalization in Canada is the advantage of marijuana compliance. This applies on every level. Licensed producers have to meet certain standards. Brands have limitations that they need to follow. Even consumers have to comply with certain safety laws. However, laws are only effective when people follow them. Throughout history, we’ve seen the consequences of “cutting corners,” ignoring rules or simply following the bare minimum (which leaves no margin for error).
The first state to legalize marijuana for medical use was California. In 1996, voters passed the Compassionate Use Act, and over the past two decades, it has seen a lot of changes and structure within its cannabis laws. In 2016, voters finally got the Adult Use of Marijuana Act passed for recreational cannabis. California Marijuana rules and regulations have a significant influence on how other states regulate and control cannabis for their medical and recreational sales.

Cannabis could be the only treatment necessary to alleviate the symptoms associated with fibromyalgia syndrome. What is Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS)? That definition or diagnosis varies depending on the type of practitioner you ask and their belief of what this condition truly is. The reason for this is the fact that there is no “golden standard”. The post Is Fibromyalgia Caused by an Insufficiency of the Endocannabinoid System?
Two years ago, the people of Florida overwhelmingly voted to approve Amendment 2, creating a constitutional right for those with medical conditions to seek treatment through medical marijuana. Two years later — where are we now? There are now over 150,000 patients licensed to use medical marijuana in the state of Florida. Most of the wave of incoming leaders after our recent midterm elections, at the state and federal level, support expanding access to medical marijuana.

New Jersey is on the verge of following suit this year, making it the 11 th state to legalize recreational cannabis.
