61% of Medical Cannabis Users in Texas Said Weed Helped Them Get off Pharmaceuticals

Nearly two-thirds of Texas medical cannabis users said that weed helped them quit using opioids, benzodiazepines, and other prescription medicines, a new survey reports. Last year, researchers from Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy undertook a new study in order to “gain insight into the needs and experiences” of the state’s medical pot users.
