Members of the state’s Cannabis Control Commission have decided to advance plans to regulate social marijuana use facilities. Regulators voted 3 to 2 in favor of the proposal, which seeks to establish a pilot program in up to a dozen self-selected cities throughout the state. However, implementing the plan will require additional legislative action from lawmakers.

Paul Lee (R- Dothan ) to prevent the bill from having enough time to be debated on the House floor this session.

While marijuana can be grown in all parts of the country, according to the NDLEA, the states that are notorious for cultivating the plant are Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Edo and Delta. In September, the NDLEA destroyed cannabis farms in Ute and Ose local government areas in Ondo State and arrested 30 suspects, seizing 31 kilograms of dried weed suspected to be marijuana in the Suleja area.

If the Clark County Council moves forward and lifts its ban on recreational cannabis businesses in unincorporated areas, it’s expected to generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional revenue from taxes on the drug. But the Clark County Sheriff’s Office wants none of it. Clark County Undersheriff Mike Cooke made the statement in a March 27 email exchange with Clark County Council Chair Eileen Quiring.

Patients with certain medical conditions will be permitted to receive medical cannabis by prescription rather than requiring Health Ministry permission, Deputy Health Minister Ya’acov Litzman announced on Thursday evening. “I have decided to adopt the position of Ministry of Health professionals to permit a prescription instead of a license for certain medical conditions where diagnosis is clear,” Litzman said.
