IDOA announces Metrc implementation timeline

The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) and the Division of Cannabis Regulation announced today an official Metrc implementation timeline for licensed cannabis businesses transitioning from BioTrack to Metrc as Illinois’ track-and-trace data system. To move items into Metrc, plants and packages will need Metrc RFID Tags.

CROO releases notice for RFID Tags from Metrc

The Cannabis Regulation Oversight Officer (CROO) released a notice for cannabis business establishments in Illinois concerning Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Tags from Metrc. Businesses may also purchase tags independently from Metrc at their own expense. There are two types of RFID Tags: Plant and Package Tags.

Illinois switches to new vendor for cannabis seed-to-sale system

May 2023, the Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) announced that Illinois was switching its cannabis seed-to-sale tracking system from BioTrack to Metrc and listed this transition as an Essential Projects in the FY2023 Annual Cannabis Report and again in the FY2024 report.
