I recently sampled a gram of the Wildfred Root Beer MAC, as part of the sativa flower Illinois High Times Magazine People’s Choice Cannabis Cup kit, picked up from Rise Mundelein. I usually snicker when I see celebrity endorsed cannabis labels. Outside of the rare exceptions, such as Snoop or Willie Nelson, it’s hard to argue that celebrities are bringing a lot to the industry.

After a successful 420 Sesh Fest in April, Green Rose River North dispensary is scheduled to host another cannabis-friendly event. To celebrate Labor Day Weekend, Green Rose is set to host Weekend Sesh Sunday, Sept. 3. The Weekend Sesh is scheduled for 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at Green Rose North, located at 612 North Wells Street in Chicago. The event will host DJs, food trucks, demos, pop-up sales from Illinois’ cannabis brands, a Puff Bus, special Labor Day weekend sales, and other activities.

The cannabis-friendly events continue in Illinois, including the inaugural The Miracle In Mundelein set for next weekend. The Miracle In Mundelein is an outdoor two-day concert event in which on-site cannabis consumption will be allowed. The Miracle In Mundelein will be at RISE Mundelein, located at 1325 Armour Blvd. in Mundelein. The two-day music event will span multiple genres, offering up a cultural mix of hip-hop, jam, reggae, and funk artists.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has recommended reclassifying cannabis to Schedule III, or a lower-risk drug. Currently, cannabis is considered Schedule I under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. This places it in the same category as heroin. Schedule I drugs don’t have medical value and have a high potential for abuse.

Huge news yesterday. Huge! The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has officially recommended that marijuana be rescheduled, from Schedule I to Schedule III of the federal Controlled Substances Act (CSA). This means that the country’s top health agency has finally conceded that cannabis has medical value, and isn’t a drug of abuse on par with fentanyl or heroin.
