Texas: Lawmakers Advance Bill Expanding State’s Medical Cannabis Access Program

Illinois 2025 cannabis sales totals matching 2024 totals

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) announced today that recreational cannabis sales totals for April 2025 reached $146,605,932.99, a slight drop from March 2025 totals but more than April 2024 totals. For the first four months of 2025, Illinois sales totals nearly match the first four months in 2024. January-April totals in 2024 reached $562,743,217.30.

First Circuit Holds the Line Against Cannabis Businesses

In fall of 2023 I wrote about the lawsuit to end federal prohibition that wouldnt really end federal prohibition. Last July, a federal district court ruled against Canna Provisions et al. in that case. On Wednesday, May 27 th , the First Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the lower court’s ruling. The First Circuit decision means the feds are still entitled to enforce the criminal provisions of the federal Controlled Substances Act (CSA) against against state-licensed marijuana businesses.

Illinois cannabis omnibus bill stalls, again

Since recreational legalization in January 2020, only one Illinois cannabis-related bill, House Bill 1443 (HB1443), has been passed to reform either the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Program Act or the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act.
