According to a Canadian judge, cannabis-impaired driving killed a 51-year-old mother of two. Kevin Hyde will face 6.5 years in prison for striking Louise Whiten in December 2020. Only in Canada can someone get under a decade in prison for killing another person. Even though the death was accidental, we can glean two things from the facts: 1 – Kevin Hyde should have had his license suspended long ago. 2 – Cannabis impairment wasn’t the issue.

On Mar. 29, 2023, during its regularly scheduled meeting, the Liquor and Cannabis Board took the following action: Emergency Rule – Cannabis Social Equity The Board approved an emergency rule (CR 103E) amending WAC 314-55-570(3)(a), (b), and (c) that extends the Social Equity in Cannabis Program application window from 30 to 58 days.
