The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) announced today that recreational cannabis sales totals for March 2025 reached $147,485,559.04. For the second-straight month (and only third time since legalization), March sales totals decreased from the previous years monthly totals. Following February 2025 totals that dropped nearly $5 million from February 2024 totals, the March 2025 sales finished $1.4 million below March 2024 totals of $148,872,065.12.

The Illinois Department of Revenue today posted a notice for all dispensaries engaged in the business of selling adult use cannabis at retail in taxing jurisdictions that have enacted Municipal or County Cannabis Retailers Occupation Taxes. Effective July 1, 2025, certain taxing jurisdictions have, by ordinance, imposed or changed their Municipal or County Cannabis Retailers Occupation Tax on the gross receipts from sales of adult use cannabis.
