The reason these two cannabinoids have become so popular in the United States is because of a legal contradiction created by the 2018 Farm Bill, which declared products derived from hemp to be legal. Marijuana (defined in the US as any cannabis plant where THC>0.3%) is a schedule I drug according to the DEA and FDA.
