The UK government made the decision i n 2004 to reclassify cannabis from a Class B to Class C drug, but the decision was rescinded in 2009. A January, 2019 event held at the Senedd – the Welsh Parliament – included a call from Arfon Jones, a North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner, to decriminalize cannabis.

All over the world, governments are moving towards legalizing or at least decriminalizing, cannabis. In 2004, cannabis was reclassified as a class C drug but was reinstated to Class B in 2008 following Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s decision to go against the advice offered up by the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs. .
