Chacruna Institute has been for many years, a source of inspiration and reference for the many institutions that have begun offering psychedelic trainings and studies. Our vast range of academic research, online publications, community foruns and conferences have served institutions such as Stanford, Naropa University, CIIS, Fluence, Vital, Psychiatry Institute, Psychedelic Support and many others to create their own courses. Some of these institutions use Chacruna’s academic books and publications as mandatory reading material for their students; some of them have faculty composed of many of Chacruna’s team members; some have hired us as advisors or consultants. It is one of our proudest accomplishments to have created such quality materials and contributions for these institutions to consolidate their study modules, and we hope that by now offering our own Chacruna Psychedelic Justice Studies, we’ll continue to promote and nourish the creation of a new generation of psychedelic therapists and practitioners, who are more needed than ever as we move forward with this psychedelic renaissance.

This collection of courses and a workshop are the cumulative result of expertise and many years of discussions curated by the Chacruna team, which include topics that are typically absent from the mainstream conversations surrounding psychedelics, especially discussions including Indigenous communities. We strive to promote a bridge between the world of plant medicines and the emergent field of psychedelic science, between “traditional ceremonial use” and clinical and therapeutic settings.

Throughout these studies, leading experts in the psychedelic field will teach on topics including but not limited to anti-racism, implicit bias, queer aspects, intersectionality, cultural humility, social identity, power and privilege, healing the racial divide, uses of Indigenous plant medicines, Indigenous knowledge and practices, issues of commodification and globalization, patents, reciprocity, conservation, legality, ethics, sexual abuse, practitioner’s training, and the actual science behind some of these sacred plants. The format of the classes includes equal time for lecture and discussion, which creates a space that fosters new perspectives in the public debate and addresses aspects that are frequently missing in studies in the mainstream field of psychedelics and in the new explosion of trainings being offered.

We offer scholarship options for folks who cannot afford the full price, with priority given to BIPOC, LGBTQ + and other minority groups. After the completion of all of the courses and workshops, participants will have the option to obtain the total Continuing Education (CE) credits offered, as well as receive a certificate from Chacruna for Studies in Psychedelic Justice, or the module of their choice. We combine high-quality excellence, with a compassionate approach to studying social justice issues.  Come join our vibrant community of kindred spirits, participate and learn!
