Is CBD the Secret Ingredient in Beauty Products

Is CBD the Secret Ingredient in Successful Beauty Products?

The search for endless beauty has been going on for more than a millennium.

From ancient mythologies (hello Cleopatra) to high fashion magazine articles, beauty has always been the focus for many women. The beauty industry strives to accomplish one mission: eternal youth. It’s promoted and sold to consumers on a day-to-day basis. In the words of the musical group Alphaville: “Forever young, I want to be forever young.” And as time went by, countless beauty products have emerged, proclaiming to have the secret ingredient to eternal youth. Millions of beauty products are sold every day. Skincare alone accounts for 42 percent of the global market, projected to generate over 177 billion US dollars by 2025.

Holistic Approach

Yet today’s consumer notices the market becoming very saturated with the same products and the same results, little to none. People have become aware that beauty comes from the inside out and pay attention to what they’re putting in and on their bodies. With the new wave of holistic wellness skyrocketing, companies are jumping on board to provide better products with natural remedies. So, it’s no surprise that the beauty industry hopped on the CBD bandwagon – but does CBD in beauty products create an effect? Could CBD be the secret ingredient to eternal youth?

Although the research of CBD benefits in skin and hair care is still developing, current studies have shown to have positive effects. In a 2019 study, researchers found that topical CBD ointment (without any THC) is a safe and effective non-invasive alternative for the skin. They also found that patients using CBD cream had no allergic reactions.

But how does CBD work on your skin?

It starts with the endocannabinoid system, or ECS, that the human body naturally produces. Our ECS maintains the homeostasis of our entire organ functionality – which is fancy to say it balances our internal system to survive. “ECS and its discovery in the early 1990s was a monumental medical advancement,” says Laira Martin, Content Manager at Vegamour. “It gave us both a much broader understanding as to how our bodies function and a key as to how plants like hemp and cannabis can be so beneficial to our health and well-being.” CBD and other cannabinoids have potent antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, fatty acids, and B-complex vitamins. Because of this, CBD has been shown to prevent and treat a variety of skin conditions from eczema to psoriasis. It’s also become a safer alternative as opposed to creams containing harsh chemicals like parabens, coal tar, or steroids.

Yet that’s not all that CBD can do. A clinical study indicates that CBD has an enormous effect on regeneration tissue, making it a key ingredient for shampoo and hair serums. When using CBD oil shampoo, the formula is designed for the CBD to interact with the skin’s cannabinoid receptors through the scalp and the hair follicles allowing hair to grow back. “CBD is magic,” says Trina Johnson and Zach Dorsett, founders of Blue Forest Farms. “Using CBD in beauty products provides an additional benefit to cellular health including revitalization and invigoration.”

Wellness Companies Using CBD

With this incredible revelation, wellness companies like Vertly, Vegamour, Foria, and Kana have created CBD-based beauty products in all sorts of ways from gummies, hair serums, and facial toners. Instead of buying countless products and spending thousands of dollars on extreme treatments like surgery, the beauty industry just might have the secret ingredients to create massive results for their customers. And as a long-time beauty consumer who put CBD products to the test, I can wholeheartedly say that it is true – CBD is magic.
