Review: Orange Soda by PTS
We aren’t shy about being fans of citrus-heavy energetic sativa here at Illinois News Joint, which is why I already had sampled one of Progressive Treatment Solutions’ flagship sativa, Orange Soda, as a crumble and preroll. However, this was the first time I’ve encountered the strain as raw flower. I picked up a sample at Consume Marion, so I could review the purest expression of the strain for our Work Sativa series.
Orange Soda is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Jilly Bean and Chem D. This batch of flower tested at 0.55% CBGa, 0.44% Delta-9-THC, 22.38% THCa, and 23.37% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.14% of the total weight with β-myrcene, β-caryophyllene, α-pinene, linalool, and limonene as the heaviest.
Inside the jar, I found several popcorn-style flowers, all roughly the size of actual popcorn. Deep-forest green flowers with dark-burnt orange, almost brown hairs, were covered with a light amber trichome frost. These flowers had a plush squishiness to them from the humidity pack that came in the jar.
Candied orange, lemon, cinnamon, fig, and butter created a rich sweet aroma that was detectable as soon as I opened the jar. The citrus notes dominated the flavor profile, just as it did the scent, with a heavy note of orange peel on the inhale and a clean, crisp citrus note on the finish that tasted of 7Up.
Orange Soda gave me an energy boost, lifted my mood, and induced a creative but unfocused headspace. Every bowl seemed to inspire a lot of “big picture” abstract thinking, taking my mind to more playful places than it usually wanders. Orange Soda was a good fit for socializing, especially if your company is open to some deep conversations.
Physically, there was surprising weight to the experience with heavy vibration sensations behind my eyes and in my torso. Consumers looking for classic citrus flavors and an energetic, creative headspace should enjoy Orange Soda. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
