HB4201 would allow remote medical cannabis exams
House Bill 4201, which was introduced in late October, was referred to the Rules Committee Wednesday, Nov. 1. HB4201 is the second attempt to eliminate the requirements for a physical medical cannabis examination in the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Program Act.
This same amendment also had been included in the cannabis omnibus that failed during the legislative session in late May. HB4201 would delete only one word from the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Program Act. The law now states, “The physical examination required by this Act may not be performed by remote means, including telemedicine.”
The amendment would eliminate the word “not” to allow medical professionals to conduct appointments remotely. Rep. Bob Morgan introduced HB4201 Oct. 26 and the first reading took place Nov. 1.
