Review: Danny Boy OG by Revolution
Thursday night after watching Revolution win five Budtender Choice Awards, including Best Top Shelf Flower, I thought I’d review one of Revolution’s latest strain drops: Danny Boy OG.
Danny Boy OG is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Wedding Sherb and Cake Crasher. This batch of flower, picked up at Enlightened Mt. Prospect, broke a nearly three-month dry spell of publishing a review for our tongue-and-cheek “Thirty % Plus THC Reviews” series. This eighth tested at 0.28% THC, 31.06% THCa, and 32.68% total cannabinoids. The primary terpenes were listed as β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, limonene, α-humulene, and linalool.
Three large cola tips took up about half the jar. Bright lime green with a few orange hairs curled into the buds. These flowers had a golden trichome frost that sparkled in the light. Danny Boy OG was dense in the hand but fluffed up nicely after grinding.
The aroma from the jar was light but still contained quite a bit of range with musk, diesel, cheese, and roast nuts on the top end, followed by the sweet-dough flavor that Revolution has perfected in other strains, such as Cookies Dos and Mint Chocolate Chip. Danny Boy OG takes on a new life in the grinder where additional notes of jasmine, sandalwood, ginger, and licorice were unlocked. The sweet dough and diesel were the strongest flavors on the inhale with black pepper and ginger rounding out the exhale.
Danny Boy OG was a fast acting strain that put a smile on my face and a headband tightness around my crown. While the mindscape from Danny Boy OG seemed clear and open from my perspective, it was abundantly clear how dazed I was when I realized I had over-boiled a pot of noodles by a solid 15 minutes. The body buzz continued to develop eventually becoming heavy waves of relaxation.
The faux clearheadedness made for some comical overconfidence making Danny Boy OG an experience best saved for close company because (and I consider this a positive) everyone could tell I was high. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
