Review: Outta My Head by Rythm
Rythm’s entire brand concept is based on the inexorable link between cannabis and music. The team behind the label has recently expanded on the idea by collaborating with bands to bring custom strains to market. The second release from this Rythm Artist Series, the strain Outta My Head, is in collaboration with pop punk group State Champs. I recently stopped at Rise Effingham and picked up an eighth to review.
Outta My Head is a phenotype of Layer Cake, a hybrid cross of Wedding Cake, GMO, and (Triangle Kush X Skunk #1). This batch of flower tested at 0.3% THC, 25.47% THCa, and 25.77% total cannabinoids.
One large pine tree shaped cola provided most of the weight with a small popcorn piece tagging along. Both carried a forest-green tone throughout, highlighted by small remnants of deep purple sugar leaves and clumps of curled in and dried pale orange hairs. Dense in the hand, the buds were dry at the surface but revealed a hashy greasiness when being broken down by hand. The aroma inside the jar was light with hints of sweet vanilla cake hidden within a blend of notes of green bell pepper, black pepper, lemon rind, and cut grass. The flavor was lighter in the bowl than the aroma was in the jar. Notes of cake, lemon, and cut grass were present but hard to detect.
Outta My Head was fast acting, providing an indica body pressure in my chest and shoulders and a head daze that tightened my awareness window. The strain left me more “in” my head than “out” as my mental state turned quiet, introspective, and calm. The indica style pressure continued to build and spread for the following half hour, eventually becoming a full couchlock heaviness that knocked out my chronic muscle pains.
