Can I use bubble hash for cannabis cooking?

Getting the right answers in your cannabis journey can be tricky. But with The Cannigma’s Ask the Expert, you can find questions from readers like you, answered by a real cannabis pharmacist.

Question:

Thank you for The Cannigma cookbook, I’ve been trying recipes.

Quick question. Can I cook with bubble hash that I extracted myself? I guess if it’s possible, it needs to be decarboxylated as well?

Thank you in advance and greetings from Luxembourg

Answer:

Thanks for being a reader and also for being badass enough to make your own bubble hash.

To be short with it — yes you absolutely can cook with your bubble hash! Your bubble is probably made with fresh, frozen herb. This means that THCA will be the primary cannabinoid in your bubble hash. So unless you dried your hash in the oven, it will need to be decarboxylated.

There could be some dearb during the cooking if you added it in early, but that is a very inexact science. So, if you’re looking to maximize your THC experience, you’re gonna need to decarb. Even if you press it into ice-hash rosin, it will still need some decarb.

How decarb much exactly? It’s not an exact science, but likely less time than it would take to decarb flower

Happy infusing,
