Lightford to host town hall on cannabis law
The passing of Senate Bill 1559 is another example of how the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act continues to evolve. Next week, Senate Majority Leader Kimberly A. Lightford is scheduled to host an informative town hall meeting to discuss several aspects of Illinois’ sometimes confusing cannabis law.
The event is free and open to the public. Residents are encouraged to join Lightford and a variety of experts and stakeholders from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15. The Red Door Meeting Place, located at 1629 Roosevelt Road in Broadview, is set to host the in-person event.
“Illinois was the first state in the nation to legalize cannabis legislatively,” said Lightford, “and thousands of people have taken part of this growing industry. However, questions still remain about what is and is not legal, as well as how people can break into the business. The town hall presents a great opportunity to learn more.”
The town hall will focus on recreational and medical cannabis, as well as transporters and other topics. The goal of the event is to educate, inform, and address questions or concerns about Illinois’ cannabis law. People with questions can contact Lightford’s office at 708-632-4500.
