Review: Dawgma by Bedford Grow
While I’ve run through the entire genetic portfolio of some Illinois cultivators, Bedford Grow has such a deep catalog that I’m still discovering new cultivars to sample. I recently stopped into Maribis Springfield on Denver, where I picked up an eighth of Dawgma to review.
Dawgma is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Chemnesia (Amnesia Haze and I95) and Big Hurt (Chemdawg D and I95). This batch of flower tested at 1.48% CBGa, 1.2% Delta 9 THC, 23.19% THCa, and 25.87% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.68% of the total weight with terpinolene, ocimene, β-myrcene, β-pinene being the most prevalent.
One large, rounded cola top and a small straggler flower piece made up the weight. A bright turf-green base tone was barely visible under layers of thick-bright orange hairs that dominated the visual profile. The flowers were dense to the touch and left a tacky stickiness on my fingers as the nugs were broken down.
Terpinolene controlled the top end of the scent profile, providing notes of spicy chemical tang, sweet burnt orange, fresh hops, and lemon peel. Notes of celery seed, dill, and a savory cheese note near the finish closely followed the sharp opening. The flavor profile was much sweeter than the aroma, carrying notes of fresh orange peel, fresh carrot juice, hops, cinnamon, and celery seed creating a very fresh and vegetal overall flavor.
Dawgma was a fast acting body heavy buzz. By the end of the first bowl a strong physical relaxation and relief set into my muscles and joints and a headband-style pressure appeared around my crown. Mentally, the high CBGa numbers provided a clearheaded easygoing experience that kept me present and focused on what was happening. My mood noticeably improved and remained there for a couple hours post smoke. Overall, Dawgma was an aromatic and relaxing experience with a clearheaded mental buzz that made the strain a good fit for any time of day.
