Review: Apple Fritter Preroll by Galaxy Labs
While I’m always searching for the next big genetic rush, there are a few strains near and dear to my heart. Galaxy Labs first batch of releases tapped into that, releasing both Gary Payton and Apple Fritter as prerolls, two personal favorites. After reviewing (and enjoying) the Gary Payton picked up at Mystic Greenz Decatur, I”m back with the Apple Fritter to see how it stacks up.
Apple Fritter is a hybrid cross of Triangle Kush and Animal Mints. This preroll tested at 20.9% THCa and 21.2% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 2.05% of the total weight.
This was the second Galaxy Labs cone I’ve smoked, and the construction of both was exemplary. Sturdy and well filled but not overly tight, the tiny bit of excess paper at the edge was easy to peel back and burn away, revealing the flower inside. The large pieces of turf green flower were an improvement over the powdery grind I’ve seen in some legal prerolls as they made for a smooth burn without any canoeing.
The scent inside the joint tube paired with some dry pulls provided top end notes of warm cinnamon and nutmeg, followed by sweeter pear and green apple tones. The finish was sour with hints of ocean brine and hot chemical tang. The smooth burn carried the flavor clearly with the sweet pear and tangy chem notes becoming the heaviest on the palate. The flavor was sticky, clinging to the tongue long after the exhale.
A rush of positivity hit me by the end of the Apple Fritter joint, boosting my mood and creative capabilities almost immediately. The rush was just under the point of becoming racy and allowed me to focus on the task at hand. The physical aspect trailed the mental by several minutes, slowing building from light vibratory sensations in my extremities to a stronger overall relaxation that wiped away my muscle pain for well over an hour. The mental aspect was much more energetic than the physical, creating a contrasting experience overall.
