Review: Blackberry Moonshine by Ozone
I’m happy to see cultivators working with new genetics, but what really excites me is the allure of running into strains I’d never encountered before. Ozone has recently released a run of new cultivars, among them, Blackberry Moonshine. I recently stopped into Ascend Horizon Drive and picked up a sample to review.
Blackberry Moonshine is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of unknown origin. This batch of flower tested at 0.01% THC, 22.089% THCa, and 22.09% total cannabinoids.
This eighth came as two larger colas, alongside several popcorn-sized buds. Turf green with some remaining deep-royal-purple sugar leaves, these buds were scruffy with a rough trim but fully intact trichomes that had been protected by the extra vegetation. The flower was densely structured, but light in the hand with a spongy Nerf-football texture, and left a light stickiness on my fingers.
The sweet aroma inside the jar was a complex blend of fresh berries, pear, lime zest, hot diesel gas, and a rich and earthy forest floor undertone. The berries and pear notes overshadowed the earth and gas tones and gave the flavor profile a resoundingly fruity profile throughout.
Blackberry Moonshine fell far into the sativa side of the spectrum, opening with a boost of creativity, energy, and sociability. Talkative and energized, Blackberry Moonshine was a good fit for going out or for psyching myself up before an event. Physically, a strong pressure opened in my extremities and grew into a full-body warm-blanket sensation that kept the energetic mental effects from becoming overly racy.
