Twenty-three-year old Denzil Benn, a miner of Lima Sands, Region Two, was fined $5000 after he pleaded guilty to the offence of possessing 1.4 grammes of marijuana.
Benn appeared before Magistrate Esther Sam on Wednesday at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to him. The defendant was told that if he did not pay the fine, he faced an alternative of one week’s imprisonment.
Benn was arrested on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast, with the narcotic. He was unrepresented.
