According to an interesting and for some eye-opening new study published in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence, the enactment of marijuana legalization laws is not associated with an increase in marijuana-related youth drug treatment admissions. For the study, first reported on by NORML, a pair of researchers from Temple University assessed annual drug treatments admissions among youth for the years 2008 to 2017.

Both Washington and Colorado saw a significant increase in tourism associated with the legalization of marijuana. This is according to a new study, titled (Pot)heads un bed: The effect of marijuana on hotel occupancy in Colorado and Washington , was published in the Journal of Regional Analysis & Policy. For the study researchers compared rates of hotel occupancy in Colorado and Washington following legalization, and compared it with other states.

The Louisiana Senate voted 28 to 6 Wednesday to approve legislation that would signfiicantly expand and improve the state’s medical marijuana law. The measure was filed by Representative Larry Bagley (R), who chairs the House Health Committee. The measure now requires one final vote is required from the House, which overwhelmingly backed the measure earlier this month, before the bill can reach the governor’s desk.
