The Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (“ 2018 Farm Bill ”) legalized hemp by removing the crop and its derivatives from the definition of marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act (“CSA”) and by providing a detailed framework for the cultivation of hemp. The 2018 Farm Bill gives the US Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) regulatory authority over hemp cultivation at the federal level.

The report reveals there isn’t much money in the coffers at the moment. The Medical Cannabis Regulation Commission on Friday voted unanimously to petition Guam lawmakers to revise their spending plan to include funding for implementation of the long-stalled medicinal marijuana program. In its 2020 budget request, the Department of Public Health and Social Services asked for $750,000 from the Healthy Futures Fund to fund the program.

The U.S. cannabis industry is still in its infancy, even though states began engaging with legalization in one form or another in the late 1990s. Australian National party politican Barnaby Joyce fired up at a screening of a medical cannabis documentary this week, admitting that he pulled “a few cones” in his uni days, but refusing to back the drug for cancer patients. Team of ex-firefighters given go-ahead to legally process crop for cannabidiol extraction. Jersey has become the first place in the British and Irish Isles to grant a licence for farmers to harvest hemp flowers for cannabis oil. A former Royal Marine commando and two former colleagues will be the pioneers who process hemp for cannabidiol (CBD) extraction.

The Department of Primary Industry and Resources has announced… The Legislative Assembly has passed the Hemp Industry Bill, which will see the development of an NT hemp sector. The Bill, which was introduced in May and passed on 8 August, exists to create a required framework in order to regulate the development and operation of an industrial hemp industry in the Northern Territory, capitalising on emerging market opportunities.

Idaho News 2 reports on the very beginning in the state……Proponents of a new medical marijuana initiative in Idaho have been cleared to begin collecting signatures. Idaho Secretary of State Lawerence Denney announced Friday that proponents of a new initiative were cleared to begin collecting petition signatures. The measure has to collect 55,067 signatures from registered voters to qualify for the ballot.
