Commission Again Extends Orders Allowing Telehealth Consultations and MTC Curbside Operations

Alert

Effective Friday, July, 1, 2022, the Cannabis Control Commission (Commission) has again reissued its Order Allowing for Telehealth Consultations for Patients and extended its Administrative Order Allowing Curbside Operations for Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (MTCs) until December 31, 2022.

During their June 9, 2022 public meeting, the Commission discussed the need for continuing these Orders in recognition of ongoing risks and unknowns posed by COVID-19. Video (3:10:14 mark) and related meeting materials are linked here.

As a result, Certifying Healthcare Providers (Providers) who wish to conduct clinical visits via Telehealth to issue initial Certificates of Registration to Patients registering with the Medical Use of Marijuana Program in Massachusetts for the first time may submit a waiver request to the Commission. The Commission’s Waiver Request Form is available here.

Additionally, MTCs may continue to transfer or dispense medical-use marijuana or marijuana products to a Registered Qualifying Patient or Caregiver within a vehicle located in the parking area of their licensed premises, or directly to a Registered Qualifying Patient or Caregiver at the entrance of the MTC.

In order to ensure and maintain safe access to medical marijuana for Patients and their Caregivers, the Commission has extended its Telehealth and MTC Curbside orders several times since the Baker Administration first declared a State of Emergency in the Commonwealth due to the outbreak of the 2019 novel Coronavirus in March 2020.
