Lendlease’s Town Hall station to tap into Melbourne CBD beatPosted by On

The Town Hall project adds to a portfolio of metro station work by Lendlease. Through its construction arm, Lendlease has been part of the consortium building the five stations along the metro tunnel beneath central Melbourne.

In Sydney, the ASX-listed property giant is also involved in Metro Martin Place, an integrated station development with a metro train station, two commercial towers and retail. In North Sydney, Lendlease is constructing the Victoria Cross Sydney Metro station, along with a commercial building and retail above it.

The Melbourne project above Town Hall Station, designed by Hassell architects, will connect Flinders Street and Flinders Lane along with the Scott and Cocker Alleys. The smaller lanes will be reactivated through an arcade with about 2000 sq m of retail and dining outlets.

Above all of that will rise the office space with room for some 1600 workers, who will enjoy views across to Federation Square, St Paul’s Cathedral, Flinders Street Station, the Arts Centre and the famed MCG. The plans involve outdoor terraces on several floors.

The development is aiming high with sustainability ratings as well, through an all-electric operation that will be powered 100 per cent by renewable energy for base building operations, setting up the potential for a carbon-neutral workplace. Lendlease is targeting a 6-Star Green Star Design & As Built v1.3 rating and as well as a WELL Gold Core rating.
