Two years ago, the people of Florida overwhelmingly voted to approve Amendment 2, creating a constitutional right for those with medical conditions to seek treatment through medical marijuana. Two years later — where are we now? There are now over 150,000 patients licensed to use medical marijuana in the state of Florida. Most of the wave of incoming leaders after our recent midterm elections, at the state and federal level, support expanding access to medical marijuana.

As one of the final acts of its 99 th Legislative Session, the Michigan Legislature passed amendments to the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (MMFLA), as well as changes to the Marihuana Tracking Act. These amendments were signed by outgoing Governor Rick Snyder on December 28, 2018, with the MMFLA amendments effective January 1. The Tracking Act amendments took effect immediately.

Thailand lawmakers approve medical marijuana legalization

Thailand is now poised to become the first Southeast Asian nation to legalize the licensed medical use of marijuana, reports the Associated Press. The country’s military-appointed National Legislative Assembly approved medical cannabis legislation this week with a vote of 166 to 0, with no votes objecting to the motion. There were 13 members who abstained from the vote.
