Communities getting more than $59.5M in marijuana tax payouts  – The Oakland PressPosted by On

Thanks to more than $1.8 billion in reported adult-use marijuana sales in Michigan for fiscal year 2022, $59.5 million-plus is on its way to the state’s municipalities and counties with marijuana stores and microbusinesses as part of the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act.

The payouts, from the Marihuana Regulation Fund, will be distributed in the next few days, according to the Michigan Department of Treasury.

Distributions will include $1,140,506 for Oakland County, along with distributions to its six cities and one village with marijuana business licenses — Ferndale, Hazel Park, Lake Orion, Madison Heights, Oxford Village, Pleasant Ridge and Walled Lake.
