Ilocos cops uproot P4.7 M worth of marijuana plants – Manila BulletinPosted by On


CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO, La Union — Police operatives uprooted marijuana plants with an estimated worth of P4.7 million in two plantation sites located in the mountainous boundary of Ilocos Sur and Mountain Province on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Police BGen. John C. Chua, the Region 1 police director, told on Thursday, Jan. 19, that a total of 20,500 fully grown marijuana plants and five kilograms of dried marijuana were uprooted in the plantation sites with a total land area of 3,280 square meters.

The plantation sites were discovered by the raiding policemen at Sitio Nagawa, Barangay Caoayan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur and Sitio Culiang, Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet; and Sitio Nakneng and Sitio Nagawa of Barangay Caoayan , Sugpon, Ilocos Sur and Sitio Culiang, Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet.

The operation was conducted by the different police units led by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 1 (PDEU1) with the collaboration of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Region 1.

Chua said that the suspected cultivators have been identified, namely, a certain Ryan Palinas and alias Emmong Palinas, both at large and residents of Sitio Culiang, Barangay Takadang, Kibungan, Benguet.

“The uprooting and destruction of these marijuana plants are already good feats,” said Chua.

“I am also glad that we have identified the suspected cultivators here, in that way, their arrest would be made easier once warrants are already given,” added Chua.
