An image has gone viral on social media purporting that Pronto Restaurant’s management has acquired Nairobi city’s iconic Hilton Hotel.
In the image, the word ‘Hilton’ on the hotel which is located on Mama Ngina Street in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) had been changed to ‘Pronto’.
However, in a statement on Wednesday, January 18, Pronto’s management denied the acquisition claims.
The hotel said it only has branches at Wabera street, Standard street, along Aga Khan walk, Kimathi street and the famous Pronto Cofee House.

Hilton Hotel shuts down
The acquisition rumours came after Hilton announced it would cease its operations in the Nairobi CBD.
Serving Kenyans for over five decades, Hilton announced it will close its doors by the end of the year 2022.
In May 2022, the hotel management said the decision was reached at after an extensive discussion with stakeholders.
The hotel, in which the government has a 40.57% stake, said several factors influenced the decision, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
