Homegrown Review: Hotcakes by John Grow #1
John Grow #1 has supplied more information for our Medical Patient Homegrown Review series than any other patient, and he’s back with another interesting strain, this one from the Burnt Toast line from Katsu Seeds. Hotcakes is an indica-leaning cross of Katsu Bubba Kush and Burnt Toast (Paris OG and Faceoff OG and Berner’s Cookies).
The forest green buds are thick, dense, and covered in creamy trichomes. The aroma hits with pungent kush and sweet hops with notes of mint-basil, citrus, roasted nuts, and earthy forest. On the inhale, the flavor delivers heavy burnt toast, tobacco, and sweet kush with undertones of gassy pine, roasted nuts, coffee, chocolate, citrus, and earthy cloves. The exhale finishes with a heavy kush tinged with dank sweetness.
The effects pack a punch with a strong “spaced-out” headspace. The head high is mentally relaxing, and with enough doses, sedating. Before the sedation hits, though, if patients are looking for a nighttime couchlock strain for television binging or channel surfing, Hotcakes should be a good fit. Hotcakes also delivers that loss of time feeling where twenty minutes go by in what seems like seconds.
The body buzz is a creeper and lands, like heavy weights, almost all at once. The body high adds to the overall relaxation, and eventually the head and body buzz combine for a peaceful tranquility that rides out the rest of the buzz, until the very end. Late in the buzz, the effects become more drowsy and sedative.
