Gov. Walz to Sign Marijuana Legalization Bill TuesdayPosted by On


St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News)- Gov. Tim Walz is set to sign a bill into law that will legalize recreational use of marijuana in Minnesota. 

The bill had to be approved by 16 different committees before initially passing a House floor for a vote in April. The Senate Approved their own version of the bill three days after it cleared the House. 

Lawmakers hashed out differences in the two versions during a conference committee before both chambers passed the legislation again prior to the end of the session. Gov. Walz indicated he would support the legislation throughout the session.

The law would  allow Minnesotans age 21 or older to possess up to two ounces of cannabis flower in a public place or 2 pounds in a person’s residence, possess or transport no more than eight grams of adult-use cannabis concentrate, possess or transport edible products infused with up to 800 milligrams of THC, give away cannabis flower and cannabinoid products in an amount that is legal for a person to possess in public, use cannabis flower and cannabinoid products in private areas and cultivate up to eight cannabis plants, of which four or fewer may be mature, flowering plants.
