Two Killed as Suspected Thugs Raid Electronic Shops in Kisumu CBDPosted by On


Two security guards were on Saturday, April 15, night killed in Kisumu Central Business District (CBD) by unknown assailants who looted several businesses.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, April 16, Kisumu Central Sub-County Deputy police commander Jackton Mango confirmed the incident noting that guards, who were manning businesses, were hit on the head with blunt objects.

Further, he stated that three electronic shops were looted and the thieves made away with an unknown amount of goods.

The police commander also stated that the guards may have been asleep when the thugs attacked noting that they were found seated on their chairs.

“It appears that they were attacked while sleeping because they were discovered sitting in their chairs.

“They broke into three electronic shops and stole goods whose value has not yet been determined,” he stated.

Mango assured the Kisumu business community that security patrol will be enhanced especially at night to ensure the safety of businesses.

Further, he noted that the case had been forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) to ensure that the criminals are apprehended.

He added that DCI officers would also later issue a statement on the value of the goods stolen.
