Mondulkiri Provincial Police sent two Vietnamese suspects to court after arresting the duo for planting 10,671 marijuana plants in Mepai village, Pou Chrey commune, Pech Reada district.

“The two suspects have been sent to the Mondulkiri Provincial Court by the Anti-Drug Unit for legal action to be taken against them,” police said in a statement today, April 16.

Major General Lor Sokha, Mondulkiri Police chief, with Deputy Prosecutor of Mondulkiri Provincial Court Eang Sokun, led a team comprising members of the Anti-Drug Unit, the Pechreda District Police Inspector Force and the Pou Chrey Commune Police, to raid the marijuana farm.

Nguyen Van Hoang, 32, and Fam Van Thay, 27, were arrested and the 10,671 marijuana plants were seized.

The raiding party also confiscated two packets of dried marijuana, 30 bags of chemical fertiliser, 27 cans of marijuana supplement, 500 bottles of marijuana saplings, three passports and the ID cards of the Vietnamese duo.

The 10,671 marijuna plants weighing some 1,205kgs were burnt at the farm.
