EDMORE — The Edmore Village Council continues to stay busy in making a variety of marijuana-related decisions.

In the last month and a half, the Village Council approved giving a $150,000 loan to a marijuana growing facility, denied the application of marijuana grower license, approved renewing a retail marijuana license and denied adding a microbusiness license.

Six marijuana businesses are open or in the works in Edmore — New Standard Dispensary and Pinnacle Emporium, both on Main Street; Grower Consultants in Sunrise Industrial Park; and three facilities which are pending and soon to open: HBSCru, Mitten Meds and Pur Oils, all in Industrial Park.

“I think in the community we’ve heard we don’t want to be known as a marijuana town — too late,” Village Treasurer Shirley Drain wryly noted during the Village Council’s April 10 meeting.
