Locust Police seizes meth, marijuana, ‘magic mushrooms’

Locust Police Department made an arrest last week and seized meth, marijuana and “magic mushrooms.”

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, Locust officers observed a traffic violation and stopped a vehicle driven by Eric Taylor and occupied by Clifford Reaves, both of Mars Hill, shortly after 10 p.m. May 31.

An investigation conducted during the stop led to a probable cause search of the vehicle and resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia items and a small amount of methamphetamine as well as 18.6 ounces of marijuana and 16 grams of Psilocybin “Magic Mushrooms.”

Taylor and Reaves were placed under arrest and transported to Stanly County Jail. Both were charged with felony possession schedule I, felony maintaining a vehicle for distribution of controlled substances, felony possession schedule VI, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver schedule VI, felony conspiracy, felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and unsealed wine/liquor in passenger area of vehicle.
