The Northern Colorado Drug Task Force, aided by multiple local agencies, has dismantled a marijuana trafficking operation that is suspected of illegal nationwide distribution, according to a recent release.

In mid April, NCDTF investigators and local law enforcement partners served search warrants in five Fort Collins locations. Across those searches, investigators recovered 1,000 live marijuana plants, 200 pounds of processed marijuana products and byproducts, tens of thousands of dollars and precious metals as well as multiple firearms, according to the release; investigators also found evidence of tax evasion associated with the operation.

The release said that arrests are pending, and additional information will be released when it becomes available.

It also noted that Colorado law limits personal, nonmedical marijuana cultivation of six plants per resident over the age of 21, with counties and municipalities able to add additional requirements or limitations regarding residential cultivation. According to Fort Collins municipal code, for example, marijuana cultivation can not be done openly or publicly and must comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the city and the state, among many other rules.

State law also allows only licensed businesses to sell marijuana and prohibits the sale of homegrown products or byproducts, the release added.
