FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — Governor Andy Beshear  calling for an expansion of Kentucky’s Medical Marijuana program.

Beshear also announced a new partnership with two companies that will help to meet requirements of the law and help establish a new medical cannabis electronic monitoring system.

“Last March, I signed Senate Bill 47 into law at that time, I was joined here in the capitol by lawmakers and advocates who also recognized that medical cannabis can help Kentuckians with certain medical conditions,” added Gov. Beshear.

Less than 24 hours after delivering his State of the Commonwealth Address, Governor Andy Beshear establishing new regulations for medicinal marijuana, he says will ensure how businesses, including cultivators, producers, and processors will operate in the state.

“These new rules will provide guidance for how medical cannabis products will be packaged, labeled, transported, advertised and tested, these regulations will ensure that Kentucky’s medical cannabis program is safe and accessible for all patients,” said Beshear.

The governor saying the new partnership between Metric and Tyler Technologies License Platform and Patient Registries will receive and process applications from cannabis businesses and kentuckians seeking a medical cannabis card.

“There is no need for a medical marijuana card,” said Beshear.
