Troutman Pepper’s Agustin Rodriguez Named to Law360′s Cannabis Editorial Advisory Board

RICHMOND, Va. and WASHINGTON – Agustin Rodriguez, a partner in Troutman Pepper’s Regulatory Investigations, Strategy, + Enforcement (RISE) Practice Group, has been selected to serve on Law360’s Cannabis Editorial Advisory Boardwhich provides feedback on Law360’s coverage of the cannabis industry and expert insight on how to best shape future coverage.

Rodriguez represents manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and suppliers in all aspects of their businesses, including federal and state licensing, tax and regulatory compliance, administrative disputes involving federal and state agencies, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial agreements. Most recently, he counseled Harvest Health and Recreation Inc. on regulatory matters in connection with its sale to Trulieve Inc., which, at the time of closing, created the largest cannabis operator in the U.S. on a combined retail and cultivation footprint basis.

“The cannabis industry and its regulatory landscape are evolving at a rapid rate,” Rodriguez said. “I’m eager to be at the forefront of these changes on the editorial board, where I’ll continue to learn and connect with my peers across the profession.”

Before joining Troutman Pepper, Rodriguez was a vice president and associate general counsel at Altria Group, Inc., the largest tobacco company in the U.S. In this role, he addressed a wide range of compliance, corporate governance, litigation, and transactional issues worldwide, focusing on strategic results and successful resolutions. Rodriguez leverages this experience to work with clients in all segments of the cannabis and tobacco industries.

Troutman Pepper’s RISE Practice Group counsels clients in a wide range of legal and public policy matters. For businesses in heavily regulated industries, such as cannabis, tobacco, alcohol, financial services, health care, telecommunications, and insurance, the team offers guidance on compliance and reporting as well as, when necessary, litigation and administrative appeals of regulatory enforcement actions. The team also partners with businesses and industry groups to work proactively on legislative strategy, state attorneys general interactions and the regulatory rulemaking process.
