Review: NF-1 by UpNorth
The rich, hashy, and skunky flavors of old school cannabis strains will always have a special place in my heart. In a world where candy- and cookie-flavored strains get so much attention, there’s still a lot the “classics” can offer. That’s what drew me to NF-1 by UpNorth, a cross of two old school strains, when I found it on the menu at Trinity Compassionate Care.
NF-1 is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Northern Lights and Chemdawg. This batch of flower tested at 0.3% Delta-9-THC, 23.41% THCa, and 24.81% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.63% of the total weight with terpinolene, limonene, β-caryophyllene, and β-myrcene being the heaviest.
A handful of bright turf green flowers coated with a dense-milky sparkling-trichome coating filled the jar. Bunches of wispy-orange hairs stretched out, almost as if trying to escape the bud. Dense to the touch but well cured, these flowers had the “nerf football” consistency I look for in finished flower.
The distinct aroma of terpinolene, vaguely piney, floral, citrus, and herbaceous all at once, stood out upon opening the jar and alongside limonene created notes of burnt orange, sour vinegar, and diesel. Further exploration revealed tones of cinnamon, perfume, and hash. The burnt orange, perfume, cinnamon, and rich hash carried through to the flavor and lingered on the tongue after exhaling.
NF-1 came on quickly, creating a pressure at my forehead and relaxing me into a calm, happy headspace. NF-1 was certainly indica but left me with enough energy to socialize or play games with the kids.
The pressure that started in my forehead eventually became a sensation of warm relaxation that spread to the rest of my body. Notably, NF-1 never made my headscape hazy, leaving me clear headed, relaxed, and calm for the duration. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
