Overview
The Cannabis Control Board (CCB) seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated individual to provide key legal assistance by delivering a wide range of legal advice and services to the Board and Executive Director. Often acts independently and with varying degrees of guidance and supervision from the Board and Executive Director. Provide specialized legal advice on issues of substantial public policy concerns and impact to the Board. Drafts and reviews agreements and processes required to administer programs. Reviews and drafts legislation and may appear before legislative committees on bills of particular importance. Assist the Board in the development, implementation and execution of litigation strategies in State forums on complex regulatory matters. Represent the Board to the public, other State agencies, and the Vermont General Assembly.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated, lived or professional experience understanding issues of race, power, privilege and bias and the impact of these issues on systems and policy development.

Law degree from an accredited law school

Admitted or eligible to be admitted to the Vermont Bar, with three or more years of practice with demonstrated relevant proficiency at increasing levels of complexity and responsibility.

Familiarity or experience in cannabis, agriculture, consumer safety, or business or financial regulation.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple, diverse and changing priorities.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with high-level government and business officials, the public, and the press concerning complex and controversial issues.

Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communications skills and interpersonal skills.

Skill at preparing written materials, and explaining complex issues, to people from various walks of life.

Demonstrated ability to act independently, with or without receiving guidance.
