Senior Care & Cannabis series to start Thursday
The Consumer Cannabis Council is schedule to host a 6-part series to “answer questions important to the health and wellness for senior adults and their families.” Senior Care & Cannabis: An Introduction is a free digital workshop for older adults, their children, and healthcare providers who are curious about adding a cannabis-based therapy to their healthcare routine.
Workshop #1 of the 6-part series is scheduled for 12-1 p.m. Thursday, April 13. Discover how cannabis can help with chronic age-related pain, dementia, and arthritis, as well replace or reduce medication that may be dangerous for older adults. To reserve a spot, visit here. The workshops are free to everyone, and attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions. Attend all workshops or pick and choose which ones to attend. Upcoming events include information on Anxiety, Autism, PSTD, and Women’s Health.
The expert scheduled for Workshop #1 is Katie Sullivan MSN, APRN, FNP-C. Sullivan is co-founder of Modern Compassionate Care, an integrative healthcare clinic that offers medical cannabis care, and mental health counseling. Katie is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, who earned her Masters in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to specializing in integrative health and medical cannabis, Katie worked in primary care, oncology, women’s health, and adolescent medicine, helping people of all ages manage diverse health challenges and chronic conditions. Her philosophy for nursing care is client-centered, evidence-based, and trauma-informed, with an emphasis on educating and empowering patients to chart their own path to wellness.
Sullivan is an active member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association, the Society of Cannabis Clinicians, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the International Association of Psychedelic Nurses, the Illinois Psychedelic Society, Chicago NORML, and the Illinois Cannabis Equity Coalition, and is proud to serve as an appointed member of the Medical Cannabis Advisory Board for the state of Illinois.
