On Tuesday, the Texas House voted in favor of HB1805, which would expand the Lone Star State’s medical marijuana program to include chronic pain patients who would otherwise be prescribed opioids.
The full House vote follows HB 1805’s passage through the chamber’s Public Health Committee last month. Another bill that would effectively decriminalize weed in Texas also passed through the committee stage a week before that.
If the Texas Senate also passes the bill and Gov. Abbott signs it into law, around 100,000 Texans may become eligible for access to medical cannabis, according to Newsbreak’s Tom Handy.
